D7 Reader - 2.2.4

D7 Reader with Feedly cloud support has been released in Google Play (it may take sometime to appear). The new version will require you to login to Feedly via OAuth, you can still use the same Google account for OAuth.

D7 Reader integration to Feedly cloud will make you enjoy seamless transition from Google Reader to Feedly cloud.

There is no visual changes to the app however a lot work has been done in integrating to Feedly cloud. The app features should be the same as before. Please report any bugs either in here or directly via email.

You can still bring in your subscriptions from Google Reader to Feedly. To do so, you need to login to Feedly via web and import the OPML file that you got from Google Takeout.

Change log for version 2.2.4
  • Integrated with Feedly cloud after the shutdown of Google Reader.
  • Few minor fixes will be done in another update.
Happy reading with D7 Reader!

  1. - [new] "last updated" dates in feedlist are all January 16th, 1970, with differing time mostly aligned on the same hour. perhaps seconds were given were milliseconds (*1000L) were needed?

    - [new] sort-by-oldest does not seem to work.

    - [new] your "what's new" market changes refer to google's "takeout" service as "takeaway"

    - [old] very frequently (at least 50% of the time) using instapaper mobilizer, get "failed to mobilize the source article Error: unknown error" in red. changing to "show rss" and back again to "show mobilized" -- with the button in the article view, without leaving the article -- often fixes it.

    - [old] downloading podcasts has never worked (as opposed to playing them via stream, which has always worked fine). get immediate crash every time in FeedListItemDetailActivity class (Android 4.2.2)

    - [fixed?] with google as the backend, the sync after changes would seem to get "stuck" and the sync icon would spin forever (eg after marking all as read). had to back out to home screen of app to fix this. no corruption or sync failure was ever observed when this happened, but it prevented further use of the app because it would hang indefinitely on the sync. since update to feedly backend, have not been able to reproduce this.

    - [suggest] when get to last article in a feed, get "no items found" page. logical thing to do would be to back out to the previous screen instead.

    1. Thanks for the report.

      - are you referring to the timestamp in article view?

      - sort by oldest is not supported by deadly api yet. I will add that when it's available.

      - will fix that soon. Thanks.

      - yes, instapaper mobilizer is unstable for sometime. I will look into it to see whether I can anything to improve the situation.

      - worked for me though. Are you able to provide a logcat with the error?

      - could have been fixed, but please keep an eye on it and report.

      - I'm still trying to reproduce this.

  2. Hi I just purchased the Pro version of D7 Reader. In Subscriptions page categories are arranged in alphabetical order. Is there any way/option that follows the order as in my Feedly account?

Could you add an option that could immediately open a specific folder/category on startup?

And, could you add shortcuts that open a certain feed directly, just like Google Reader? I had Tasker open a RSS feed for current news every morning before 7/1, but now I found no replacement that have the shortcut nor opening certain category on startup in the market. D7 is now the closest to perfect replacement, so I hope you could take one more step to make it all happen.

  3. Really pleased with the move to continue. One bug I have is the starred articles from before have gone. Any way that can be picked up still and transferred into your new star handling. Thanks

    1. Unfortunately, there is no way to bring in the starred items to in Google to Feedly, as Google Reader API has been shutdown already.

  4. Thank you for updating the app.

    Suggestion:

can you add tablet UI mode? something like in gReader.

  5. New problem. Downlading podcast sound file works as before, but when playing it says: "Error: Media file not found"
